No role in Rahul shoe-throwing incident: Ramdev

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has said that he has taught his workers to be cultured, tolerant and decent.

Haridwar: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has said that he has taught his workers to be cultured, tolerant and decent, and refuted suggestions that he was involved in the shoe-throwing incident against Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

"I have not given any training like this to my workers. I have taught my workers culture, tolerance and decency. So, my workers cannot even dream of committing such terrible acts," Ramdev told media here.

Criticizing the attack, he said this new way of registering one`s dissent was unfortunate.

"First it was on Team Anna and now it is on respected brother Rahul Gandhi. This shoe-throwing tradition of protest is condemnable and not accepted at all. Such kinds of protests are not only disrespectful but also not in our Indian culture," Ramdev said.

Kuldeep Singh (26) hurled shoe towards Rahul Gandhi`s dais as soon as he begun addressing his last poll rally at Vikasnagar in the outskirts of Dehradun on Monday.

The shoe-hurling incident on the Amethi MP came two days after a similar attack on Team Anna members in Uttarakhand. A slipper was hurled at Team Anna members during a public rally in Dehradun on Saturday.
