New Delhi, Nov 27: The centre will come down heavily on the drug and counterfeit currency trade found to be rampant in north Bengal since such activities promote terrorism, foreign minister Yashwant Sinha assured the Lok Sabha today.
Replying to a calling attention motion on ISI activities in Bangladesh, Sinha said the Reserve Bank of India was aware of the trade in counterfeit currency in north Bengal and would initiate further action.
Drug and counterfeit currency trade were usually associated with terrorism all over the world, he said.
Replying to another question, the minister said India had succeeded in convincing the international community that Pakistan was behind cross-border terrorism.
The notice for the calling attention motion was given by Shyama Singh and Ramesh Chennitala (both Cong).
