New Delhi: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh express regret for his comments against the party`s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

"There is no basis whatsoever especially after the clean chit given by the Gujarat court which had examined the allegations on the direction of the Supreme Court...Hence PM should express regret to Modi," Swamy said.

Addressing a press conference here, Singh said Modi as prime minister will be "disastrous" for the country.
"If you measure the strength of Prime Minister by presiding over mass massacre of innocent citizens on streets of Ahmedabad, then I do not believe in it... I do not think that this kind of strength this country needs least from its Prime Minister," Singh had said.
