Mumbai, Dec 15: Indian computer scientists are to work in close collaboration with French National Research Centre for Informatics "Inria", and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) will act as a nodal agency from India for all future joint advanced projects.
An MoU in this regard, which is in its final stage, was decided on at the five-day international conference in `advances in computing science and logic programming' which concluded on Saturday at TIFR here, conference chairman Dr R K Shyamsundar said.

The conference also drew plans for scientists to work with biologists in a big way to provide them simulation models especially in cell evolution and protein folding. Also, in e-commerce, researchers have plans for "trust management" to enable digital certification.

In cell evolution, reasonably good models are already available but "they are some good interfaces for which lot of systems have been developed by INRIA," Shyamsundar told news agencies.

In the case of protein folding, using some of the computer science concepts, reasonably accepted models are being developed and is a promising field for computer scientists, he said.

"A molecular modelling can be done through computer using
"graphic user interface" (GUI) model.

In the case of bio-informatics, india has to move up qualitatively, he said adding, TIFR is setting up an "adjunct faculty" headed by Prof B Misra to increase research in computer engineering.
