Don't detain ambulance for VIP movement: Naveen Patnaik

 Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday asked police not to detain ambulance during the passage of VIP vehicles on the roads.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday asked police not to detain ambulance during the passage of VIP vehicles on the roads.

Disapproving the practice of detaining ambulance during passage of VIP cavalcade, Patnaik said the life of patients were more precious than the VIP movement. Therefore, at no circumstances the ambulance would be detained on the road, he said.

In order to allow smooth movement of ambulance, the Chief Minister issued direction to authorities to construct special corridors for patient carriers.

On the first phase, the special ambulance corridors would be constructed near major road crossings in the state, an official release said adding that the Patnaik would review the matter after one month.
