Ex-CM, MPs, Minister, IAS officers encroach land

A former chief minister of Orissa and Congress MP, a ruling BJD MP and a minister in the Naveen Patnaik cabinet were among the 95 people identified as having encroached precious government land in the state capital here.

having encroached precious government land in the state
capital here.
This was stated by chief minister Naveen Patnaik while
replying to a written question in the assembly as the minister
of General Administration department, which happened to be
owner of government land in the state capital.

"The state government will take steps to recover land
under Orissa Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised
Occupants) Act, 1972," Patnaik said.

The list containing names of MLAs, MPs, Minister,
IAS/IPS/IFS officers (present and past), judges, journalists
and other government employees included names of former chief
minister Hemananda Biswal, who is a Congress MP from
Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat and BJD MP from Bhubaneswar Lok
Sabha segment Prasanna Patsani and others.
Orissa`s agriculture minister Damodar Rout`s name also
figured in the list of persons who had encroached Government
land at the posh Saheed Nagar locality here. "I have already
requested the GA department to take back additional land under
my possession. But they have not taken it back so far," Rout
told reporters in his reaction.
