Heroin worth Rs 10 crore smuggled from Pak seized

Two kilograms of heroin with a street value of Rs 10 crore, which was smuggled from Pakistan, were seized by the Border Security Force on the border here on Monday, a senior BSF officer said.

The contraband was found in an agriculture field near Border Out Post (BOP) Daoke in Amritsar sector, said BSF DIG M F Farooqui.

Two packets of heroin, weighing two kgs and smuggled from Pakistan, had a street value of Rs 10 crore, he said.

BSF jawans noticed suspicious movements of two persons near the Indo-Pak border in the wee hours and challenged them.

When they did not pay any heed to BSF's warning, the troopers opened fire, the DIG said adding the two, however, managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.

During search of the area, two packets of heroin were found, Farooqui said.
