Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Saturday said SAD in alliance with BJP will register victory in municipal corporation elections which will take place in January.

"Municipal elections in Punjab will be conducted in January and relevant arrangements are being ensured for the same," Badal said here today.

He said the municipal corporation polls will be contested jointly by SAD and BJP, saying "there will be a tremendous victory" of the alliance in MC polls.

However, he said the decision regarding distribution of tickets will be taken jointly by both the parties.

Asked about relations between SAD and BJP, Badal said the ties were "very strong and healthy" and will be maintained by both parties.

Referring to his recent visit to China, Badal said the main motive of this visit was to understand the modern techniques in fishery and allied occupations and their applicability in Punjab.

The per hectare production of fishery in Punjab is 6 tonne whereas in China it is 33 tonne per hectare which is a record in itself, he said adding that traditional crops are not proving to be beneficial now and preference needed to be given to other allied occupations.

He said Punjab government will promote fisheries and other allied occupations.
