Chandigarh: With the Congress set for a do or die battle when Punjab goes to polls early next year, the party leadership is going all out to ensure a united fight against the SAD-BJP combine and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

With the Congress having blamed infighting for its loss in 2012 assembly polls, the party has now introduced a 'loyalty bond' that all ticket hopefuls will have to sign for their candidature to be accepted.

An aspirant has to a given an undertaking and pledge that if he/she is not elected as the official Congress candidate for any constituency then he/she will not contest from any constituency (as an Independent candidate) and fully support the official candidate of the party.

Former CM Amrinder Singh, who is leading the Congress in the polls, said that the party will take strict action against rebels.

Suggesting that all will be not lost if one fails to secure a ticket, Patiala royal said that such people will be accommodated with chairmanship and member position of various government bodies and organisations after the Congress wins the polls.
