Dhaka, Dec 26: Charging Bangladesh's ruling
BNP-Jamaat coalition with corruption and supporting
terrorists, opposition leader Sheikh Hasina today urged all
democratic forces in the country to unite and oust the present
government.
"The people in the 15-month rule of this incapable,
corrupt and terrorists' government have realised that it has
to be toppled," Hasina, president of the main opposition Awami
League, said inaugurating the 19th triennial council of the
party here.
Addressing party members in a make-shift auditorium at
Paltan Maidan here, she said "all democratic forces should
unite forgetting their petty differences in greater national
interest to oust the evil forces."
The oppressive Khaleda Zia-led government had to be
dislodged to put democracy and development back on the track,
the former premier said.
Hundreds of party men, sympathisers and members of
minority community were either killed or physically assaulted
after the elections, she alleged adding the on-going army-led
anti-crime operation seemed intended to eliminate Awami
League.
The council began observing a one-minute silence in
memory of writer and human rights activist Annada Sankar Roy,
communist leader Ila Mitra and those killed in September 2001
terrorist attack in the US.
