Being typecast does not bother me, says Ronit

Mumbai: Popular television and film actor Ronit Roy, who has been playing onscreen father for years, does not mind being getting typecast and is looking for a lot of variety in the roles offered to him.

"I am getting offers for films be it comedy or villain or a college student or father or grandfather. I will start shooting for a film in August, where I don`t play the role of a father. It is something different. I haven`t done something like this in films earlier," Ronit told PTI in an interview, without divulging any details about the film. Ronit, who was applauded for role as an abusive father in the award-winning `Udaan`, will be playing a bad dad again in Deepa Mehta`s `Winds Of Change`. The film stars Satya Bhabha, Shriya, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Samrat Chakrabarti, Rahul Bose and Darsheel Safary. It is scheduled to release in late 2012. The 45-year-old will essay the role of Ahmed Sinai, the father of protagonist Saleem Sinai in the movie that is an adaptation of Salman Rushdie`s novel `Midnight`s Children`. "I am not worried about being getting typecast for playing the role of a father onscreen. I am getting a variety of roles despite being typecast. If I like a script, then I do the film, length of a role does not matter to me much," Ronit said. The actor will also host the fourth season of reality show, `Kitchen Champion` that will be aired on Colors from today. "I had an exciting run with `Kitchen Champion` since its inception. Season after season, I have grown along with the show and I am proud to be associated with it," Ronit said. PTI
