Rangasamy pays tributes to Ambedkar

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Tuesday led the Union Territory of Puducherry to pay floral tributes to the champion of the poor and the downtrodden Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.

Ministers, legislators, Speaker V Sabapathy and Member of Parliament R Radhakrishnan were among those who paid tributes at the statue.

Leaders and representatives of various organisations of Scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and various political parties also paid homage at the statue.

Rangasamy accompanied by his cabinet colleagues and Speaker also paid homage at the statue of Dr Ambedkar at the Ambedkar Memorial (Manimandapam) on the beach road.

The opposition Congress held a function at the PCC office. The PCC president AV Subramanian, AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy, Leader of the opposition V Vaithilingam, party legislators and freedom fighters were among those who paid tributes at the portrait of Dr Ambedkar.

The ruling AINRC held a function at the party office and among those who recalled the services of Dr Ambedkar included the party legislator V Bhalane.
