Barabanki incident: AAP slams 'jungle raaj' in Samajwadi Party ruled UP

Noida: The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday condemned the Barabanki incident, where a woman was set ablaze in a police station for allegedly refusing to pay a bribe, claiming that the law and order situation of Uttar Pradesh has deteriorated to such an extent that even the phrase 'jungle raaj' does not do justice to it.

"This is not the first such incident in Uttar Pradesh. The phrase 'jungle raag' used to be used to describe Uttar Pradesh but now I feel even that does not do justice to the state. I feel that the UP police force itself a mafia, which is run by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The law and order situation has deteriorated. This incident should be investigated by an independent agency and all the policemen involved should be suspended," AAP leader Ashish Khetan said.

On Monday night, a woman anganwadi worker succumbed to her injuries after she was allegedly set ablaze by two policemen inside a police station.

According to reports, the woman had gone to the police station to free her husband, who had been picked up for questioning. When she refused to bribe the policemen in order to release her husband, she was set ablaze.
