NCW says atrocity committed against Banda dalit girl

The three-member team of NCW said at the first instance it seems that atrocity has been committed against the girl.

Banda: The three-member team of
National Commission for Women, which came to probe into
the rape of a dalit teenager by a BSP MLA, on Sunday said at the
first instance it seems that atrocity has been committed
against the girl.

"From whatever the girl has told the team, it seems
that atrocity was committed against her and the administration
committed laxity in ensuring justice," team member Sarla Arya
told reporters here.

She said the girl told the team that Superintendent of
Police Anil Das pressurised her to change the statement and
despite resistance took her thumb impression of a blank paper.

"All effort would be made to ensure that the girl gets
justice. The team will submit its report with the chairman
Girija Vyas within two days," Arya said.

Earlier, the team members met the girl lodged in the
district jail and recorded her statement. "In her statement
the girl has repeated allegations of rape and molestation
against the BSP MLA (Purushottam Naresh Dwiwedi) and his
aides," she said.

Sheelu Nishad (17) had accused Dwiwedi of rape, but
later got arrested in a theft case.

The state government had ordered a CB-CBI probe into
the incident and the BSP suspended Trivedi from the party till
the time inquiry report is not received.

Congress MLA from Sadar Vivek Kumar Singh also met the
NCW team and accused the SP of making efforts to hush up the
matter.
