Judicial remand of four Saradha accused extended

A city court on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Assamese singer Sadanand Gogoi and three others accused in the multi-crore Saradha scam till December three, rejecting their bail prayers.

Kolkata: A city court on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Assamese singer Sadanand Gogoi and three others accused in the multi-crore Saradha scam till December three, rejecting their bail prayers.

The ACJM, Alipore Court, extended the judicial remand of Gogoi, the retired IPS officer Rajat Majumdar, East Bengal Club official Debabrata Sarkar and businessman Sandhir Agarwal.

The CBI, which had arrested them on different dates, prayed for an extension of their judicial custody.

The court accepted the CBI prayer for extension of the judicial custody and rejected the bail prayers of the accused.

All the four were named in the second chargesheet filed by the special crime branch of CBI on Monday before this court.

They were charged under sections 120b, 409 and 420 of IPC (criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and cheating) and also under sections four and six of the Prize, Chit and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act 1978.
