Gaza city, May 05: The Israeli Army demolished eight buildings and razed land in three areas of the Gaza Strip early today, the army and Palestinians said.
Seven houses were demolished in the Khan Younis refugee camp and at least one in Deir al-Balah, witnesses said. The army said the operations were in reaction to a shooting attack in the area on Sunday in which a pregnant Jewish settler and her four children were killed.
Troops had bulldozed 22 houses in Khan Younis a day earlier, the local governor's office said.

An armored personnel carrier shot toward youths passing
near the operation in Deir al-Balah, but no injuries were
immediately reported, witnesses said.

In Rafah in the southern area of the strip, army
bulldozers were clearing land and rubble from past house
demolitions, Palestinian witnesses said. The army has been
operating in the area in recent days to uncover tunnels used
to smuggle weapons across the border with Egypt.
