Lisbon: The Portugal police on Thursday reopened the investigation into the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann.

In 2007, Madeleine disappeared in Praia da Luz in the Algarve region of Partugal from the holiday apartment where her parents were staying just days before her fourth birthday, while they were dining at a nearby tapas bar.
The move was approved by the prosecutor after the officers in Oporto said that they have identified a man which they never questioned during the original investigation.

According to local media, the police have identified a number of issues they wish to clarify. This police team have no involvement in the investigation which was shelved in 2008.

Madeleine McCann`s parents Kate and Gerry were "very pleased" by Portuguese authorities decision. They hope to get the answers they are so desperately looking for the reopening of the case.
Scotland Yard also welcomed the move as "good news". In 2001, Scotland Yard review the case and also made a formal investigation into it.
