Indian fans might be ticketless for Rio Games due to IOA blunder: Report

New Delhi: The hopes of all the Indian fans who are planning to visit Brazil next year to watch the prestigious Rio Games could be shattered as Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has failed to reserve the quota of tickets for sale in India.

According to a report published in Indian Express, the Indian fans could be deprived of all the action at Rio Games next year.

As per the rules, the tickets for the biggest sporting extravaganza are sold online via an Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) appointed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for every country.

The ATR could either be a National Olympic Committee (NOC) or an agency which is nominated by the country. It’s a general practice, followed at all Olympics and a few other events.

The blunder has been committed at a time when not so long ago India were looking to bid for the quadrennial event.

Notably, about 7.5 million tickets have been put on sale for the Games, which are scheduled to be held from August 5 to 21 next year.

The reason behind the blunder is yet to be known.
