COVID: Karnataka makes RT-PCR report mandatory for international passengers

International travelers who arrive at airports from some countries will have to undergo COVID-19 test. Karnataka reported 1,159 fresh COVID-19 cases and 21 fatalities on Wednesday. C.1.2, a new COVID-19 variant, was first reported in South Africa.

New COVID variant C.1.2 not detected in India so far: Centre

C.1.2 was first detected in South Africa in May this year. According to WHO, there are 100 sequences of C.1.2 reported globally. C.1.2 has more mutations than other variants of concern or variants of interest identified globally so far, as per a study.
