HDFC Bank in Chennai saw a technical glitch which increased the bank balance of a few customers. The incident occured at a handful of branches across the city. A total of Rs 13 crore was transferred to people's accounts.

HDFC Bank's mobile app suffers massive outage, bank says 'looking on priority'

In a tweet, the bank has said that it is looking into the matter on priority and urged the customers to used net banking to complete their transactions. According to `Downdetector`, the issues surged around 10.45 a.m. and people are still facing problems. In February, the RBI appointed an external professional IT firm to carry out a special audit of the entire IT infrastructure of HDFC Bank following the outage.

Netizens also raised the glitch on Twitter and asked the verified Twitter handle of HDFC Bank Cares to fix it as soon as possible. Few customers also panicked as they thought that there might be the possibility of losses and some of them also complained that this particular glitch has been going on for three, some alleged six hours. HDFC Bank Cares Twitter handle offers help to customers between 7 AM to 11 PM and it also asks customers not to share any personal or banking information publicly.

ATM use: HDFC Bank to stop paper slips,to send detailed SMSes

The bank is piloting the initiative at a few ATMs at present and will roll out the same across its network of over 11,700 ATMs by the end of June, the official added.
