Jagjit Singh enjoyed both popularity and critical acclaim. Jagjit Singh was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 2003 for his extraordinary contribution to the music industry. The music maestro passed away in October 2013 after suffering a brain haemorrhage in September in the same year.

Born Jagmohan Singh in Rajasthan and belonging to a Punjabi Sikh family, Jagjit left an indelible mark in the world of music with his treasury of ghazals.

Jagjit Singh would have turned 78 on Friday.
