In a heated session, the Maharashtra Assembly witnessed sharp exchanges as members clashed over the Ladki Bahin Yojana, turning the discussion into a political flashpoint.

Under Ladki Bahin Yojana, a monthly assistance of Rs 1,500 is given to eligible women in the state of Maharashtra.

All beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme must complete their mandatory e-KYC process to continue receiving benefits. The Maharashtra government first announced this in September 2025, giving women two months to finish the verification. Later, due to widespread flooding, the state granted a 15-day extension in October.

NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule alleged on Tuesday that a scam worth Rs 4,800 crore was committed in the Ladki Bahin Yojana, implemented by the BJP-led government in Maharashtra, asserting that the entire state Cabinet is responsible for the scam. 

Ladki Behan Yojana, introduced last year by the Government of Maharashtra, provides women aged 21 to 65 with a direct benefit transfer of Rs 1,500 to enhance their health and nutrition and to reinforce their important role within the family.

CM Fadnavis also hailed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Ahilyabai Holkar and said they showed everyone how to run welfare states in the era of monarchies.

The Ladki Bahin Yojana aims at helping women from families below the poverty line. It was initiated by the first Mahayuti government.

Ladki Bahin Yojana Online Apply: The Maharashtra state government launched the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana to provide comprehensive support to women across the state. This special initiative aims to uplift and empower female citizens by offering various forms of assistance.
