A tribute to veteran actress Shyama: Some of her best roles

New Delhi: Veteran actress Shyama, who was born under the name of Khurshid Akhtar passed away on November 14, 2017. The actress starred in almost 175 during her 40-year career and was regarded as one of the most beautiful actresses of her time.

Here are some of the iconic roles played by the actress:

Sharada (1957)

Shyama won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in this film. She played the role of Chanchal who finds out that her husband and his stepmother had been in love before.

Aar Paar (1954)

Shyama played the role of Nikki in this story about a man who has two women loving him. The movie also starred Johnny Walker, Shakila, Jagdeep, Jagdish Sethi.

Mirza Sahiban (1947)

The movie is based on the folktale of Mirza and Sahiban and starred Shyama along with Ram Singh and others. Ravi Kapoor directed the film.

Do Behnen (1959)

Shyama played the role of Vasanti in this story of twin sisters who are poles apart in nature.

Barsaat ki Raat (1960)

Shyama also starred in the 1960 hit-film, Barsaat Ki Raat along with Madhubala, Bharat Bhushan, Mumtaz Begum and K. N. Singh Ratna.
