Pakistani artists in India controversy: Know what Nawazuddin Siddiqui has to say

Mumbai: He tickled our funny bone by essaying the role of Chand Nawab, a Pakistani reporter in Salman Khan starrer ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ last year. Nawazuddin Siddiqui - the actor par excellence however has a very strong view about the presence of Pakistani actors in the country in the wake of a constant ceasefire violations and terror attacks from across the border.

According to an India.com report, Nawaz is not in favour of having Pakistani artists in the country. His opinion about hiring artists from across the border is the exact opposite of what his ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ co-star Salman feels.

While veteran actors Om Puri, filmmaker Shyam Benegal and Salman extended support to Pakistani artists in India, Nana Patekar, Ashok Pandit and Anupam Kher expressed a different view.

On being asked, which group of actors he belongs to, Nawaz, during a press conference in Meerut said, “It is not about with which group of actors I belong to. It is a matter of our country. Aur desh se badhkar kuch nahi hai.”
