New Delhi: After directing one of the longest running soap operas `Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka` a decade ago, Bollywood director Vipul Shah is returning to TV with family drama `Bhai, Bhaiyya Aur Brother`.
Shah, who will be co-producing the show with Deven Bhojani on Sab TV, says he was looking for a right opportunity to work on the small screen again because it is tough to make a mark here.
"TV is challenging and needs time and commitment. It`s more challenging than films because TV is more immediate. I was looking for a right opportunity and when Deven approached me with the script, I thought this is the kind of serial I was looking at. I have a special place for serials which initiate the importance of family in us. My show is light-hearted family drama where there is no scope for supremacy and double standards," Shah told PTI.
`Bhai Bhaiya Aur Brother` is a cross-cultural family comedy that centres around three brothers. It focuses on the disparities that exist in the society.
Shah, who left TV to focus on his career in films, said nothing has changed much in the small screen industry.
"When I started making films, it was tough for me to focus on both the mediums. So, I quit TV and focused entirely on films because I had no background in it. But after ten years, it hasn`t changed much. Only the plot of these soaps have changed," he said.
Shah is delighted about the fact that TV has got its due recognition after actors like Amitabh Bachchan made a foray into it.
"Bachchan had broke the barriers for the A-listers of the industry and gave the medium its due share and dignity. After him, now everyone is venturing into it."
