5 Tips For Having An Amazing Time While Travelling Solo

Travelling solo can be great, but it also has its challenges. You’re out of your comfort zone, you don’t have someone to travel with if something goes wrong, and you have to be in charge of planning everything from point A to point B by yourself. Here are 5 tips for having an amazing time while travelling solo, so your trip lives up to its potential.

5 Tips For Having an Amazing Time While Solo Travelling

1) Do your research

When travelling solo, it's easy to feel like you're less than capable of handling everything on your own. But if you prepare ahead of time and plan accordingly, travelling alone can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. To begin with, start with proper research about where you will be travelling. For example, you might want to learn about Icelandic car rentals if you go to Iceland as it does not have the same cab services as you may be used to.

2) Stay in safe areas

It's important to know where not to go, too. If you're travelling alone, it's best to stay in safe areas and avoid high-risk situations. This means avoiding isolated neighbourhoods or any place that seems unsafe. Keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings at all times. Avoid being distracted with electronics while walking around. Trust your instincts when it comes to other people and avoid anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable. Carry pepper spray or a stun gun for protection purposes, just in case things turn ugly. You can find safety pins on the ends of long scarves which can be used as a makeshift defence weapon. Finally, learn how to defend yourself with the key jab. A key jab is a good self-defence technique for stopping an attack by using the key between your fingers (a car key is perfect) into the eye socket/throat/temple region which will cause enough pain for them to stop attacking immediately! You should do this from behind because they'll see what you are doing.

3) Get a good travel insurance policy

A good travel insurance policy can be the difference between having a great time and being stuck at home.

4) Tell people where you're going

As you plan your next solo trip, there are a few things to consider that might not occur to the average traveller. Are you travelling somewhere with a language barrier? Do you have any health issues that may affect your ability to travel alone? Are you going somewhere remote and off the beaten path where help would be difficult or impossible to find if something happens? If so, then it is important to make sure someone knows where you are going and when in case of an emergency. It's also a good idea to take out travel insurance before heading off on your adventure.

5) Enjoy your time

When you travel solo, it's important to take time to enjoy yourself. Be sure to take some time each day for yourself and do what makes you happy. Take pictures of your favourite sights so you can show others back home what you did when they ask. Indulge in some of the local cuisines, but be careful about how much food
