Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu, accused in Red Fort violence case, remanded to 7-day police custody

Punjabi actor and singer Deep Sidhu, accused in Red Fort violence on Republic Day, was on Tuesday (February 9) sent to police custody for seven days. He was earlier in the day arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell. The arrest was made by a team of Delhi Police's Special Cell, said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

New Delhi: Punjabi actor and singer Deep Sidhu, accused in Red Fort violence on Republic Day, was on Tuesday (February 9) sent to police custody for seven days by a Delhi Court. He was arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell earlier in the day.  

Sidhu was arrested by the Delhi Police in Karnal, Haryana, as per reports. The arrest was made by a team of Delhi Police's Special Cell, said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

He has been sent on remand for several reasons including recovery of laptop and mobile, to identify rioters from Sidhu's aid, find out the planning involved in storming the Red Fort, to recover  vehicle which entered the Red Fort, places he stayed at in Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra, people and friends who assisted him in uploading videos on Facebook, people Sidhu met after the Republic Day violence and everyone involved in helping him.

Earlier, Delhi Police had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu, Jugraj Singh, Gurjot Singh and Gurjant Singh.

Meanwhile, actor Deep Sidhu has denied all allegations of inciting the farmers during the tractor march on January 26.

Thousands of farmers broke barriers, clashed with the police and entered the Red Fort on the Republic Day during the tractors rally. Some of them had also hoisted a religious flag on an empty mast at the Red Fort.
