Food Security Act to be implemented in AP from April 1

 Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Commissioner B Rajasekhar said here on Sunday that the Food Security Act would be implemented in the state from April 1 under which every poor person from a family living below poverty line would be supplied five kilograms of rice a month.

Inaugurating a function to mark the World Consumer Rights Day here on Sunday, he said that a five-member committee would be constituted to monitor implementation of the Food Security Act at the state level.

A district-level grievance cell under the chairmanship of a joint collector would also be set up.

He said that a major campaign to create awareness on the Food Security Act would be launched by the end of this month.
