TDP slams Cong, Jagan; will defend Naidu legally

The petition was part of "a witch-hunt in collusion with the Congress party" as they could not take on Chandrababu Naidu politically, alleged PDP.

Hyderabad: Opposition TDP on Thursday hit out at
ruling Congress and YSR Congress over a petition filed in the
Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking a multi-agency probe against
party president N Chandrababu Naidu and asserted it would take
all steps to defend the former chief minister legally.

The party charged that the petition, filed by YSR
Congress honorary president YS Vijaya, was part of a "witch-
hunt launched by the Congress party in collusion with Kadapa
MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy".

"We are discussing the issue thoroughly and will take a
decision on our course of action in the next few days," TDP
Politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu told reporters here
after a meeting with Naidu. Senior leaders Kadiyam Srihari,
Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Motkupalli Narasimhulu were
also present at the press conference.

The petition was part of "a witch-hunt in collusion with
the Congress party" as they could not take on Naidu
politically, they maintained.

"The petition, on which the high court has asked CBI,
Enforcement Directorate and SEBI to conduct a preliminary
investigation, is clearly an exercise to malign Chandrababu
and prevent him from galvanising non-Congress Opposition
parties at the national level in the fight against
corruption," Yanamala alleged.

He said the petition was filed as part of a "political
conspiracy" following a meeting Jagan had with the prime
minister and senior Congress leaders last month.

"It`s nothing but match-fixing between Congress and
Jagan, who finds himself totally cornered following the CBI
investigation against him (in assets case)," Yanamala said.
