New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has issued
summons to an Italian and three Indians in a defamation case
claiming damages of Rs 10 crore filed by a Greek national
for calling her `alcoholic` which resulted her termination
from a project on India.

Justice S Ravindra Bhat has issued the summons to
Francesca Pessina, an Italian, and Indians Kamal Gaur, Parul
Lihla and D Vasudevan and asked them to appear in person
before the court on January 25, 2010.

The Court passed the order recently on a suit for
damages filed by Frances Tsakonas, a Greek woman who was
engaged by EU to work on a project in July, who alleged her
Indian colleagues and Project Manager Pessina called her
alcoholic and drug addict, as a result of which she was sacked
by EU from the project.

Claiming that she is an international education expert
and worked with the present Prime Minister of Greece till
2004, she said "defamatory remarks about her character
has caused loss of her reputation".

The High Court has fixed January 25, 2010, for further
hearing of the matter.
