New Delhi: The debacle of Lok Sabha polls seems far from over for the Congress as the Shiv Sena on Saturday launched a full-frontal attack on Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan who presided over the Congress-NCP government`s disastrous show in the state. Taking the attack to Chavan, Sena`s Sanjay Raut cited the example of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to drive home his point, and said, “If Nitish Kumar can resign, why can`t Prithviraj Chavan.” “The people have rejected him (Chavan) as well, he must resign on moral grounds,” Raut added. The Sena leader blamed Nitish`s lofty ambitions for his sorry show in he LS polls and avered, “If he had not left NDA then he would not have seen this day.” The Congress and the NCP were humiliated in Maharashtra as the NDA won a massive 42 seats out of 48. The BJP, Shiv Sena and Swabhiman Paksha won 23, 18 and one seat respectively; while the Congress could manage only two seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) fared slightly better than the Congress as it managed to win four seats. Even the stalwarts of the NCP, Congress combine like Milind Deora, Sanjay Nirupam, Praful Patel and Priya Dutt failed to save their seats.
