Foods with Zinc can fight Diabetes Mellitus

Zinc is an essential mineral required by the body for maintaining a healthy immune system, building proteins, triggering enzymes, and creating DNA. Besides that zinc can aid in normalizing the negative effects of diabetes mellitus. According to a study, zinc has been shown to alleviate the harmful effects of diabetes by improving glycemic control in type I and type II diabetes. So take in zinc in your daily diet by including the following foods which contain a considerable amount of zinc in them:

Seafood: Seafoods like crab and oyster packed with zinc are a natural source of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids.Since it does not have any carbohydrate, so it will not cause blood glucose to rise.

Wheat germ: Wheat germ being a strong source of fiber is beneficial to patients with diabetes since fiber doesn't raise glucose levels.

Spinach: Research shows that green, leafy and fresh spinach is extremely low in calories and carbohydrates which prevents diabetes.

Nuts: Nuts are natural sources of many vitamins and minerals, including zinc. Since they have very little carbohydrate so they will not cause blood glucose to rise.

Pumpkin: Pumpkin seeds have high zinc content.They reduce or eliminate the need for insulin injections in type 1 diabetics. Researchers found that pumpkin extracts can increase insulin production and regenerate damaged pancreatic cells.
