New Delhi: The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has proposed a three-member independent committee to review salaries and other allowances for MPs.
The development was confirmed by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) which tweeted, “Government proposes independent Commission to recommend MPs’ salaries.”

The proposal is expected to be part of the agenda for the two day All India Whips’ Conference to be held at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh during September 29-30, 2015, according to the PIB press release.
The MPs presently get a basic salary of Rs 50,000 and the last revision was made in 2010.
It also states various suggestions on determining salaries of the employees including that it should not be too high or low and should reflect the level of responsibility.
