Jammu: An Army jawan and a woman tested
positive for swine flu on Thursday, taking the total number of those
affected by the virus to 34 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Their reports from National Institute of Communicable
Diseases (NICD) confirmed the swine flu, Heath department
officials said, adding that one of them is an army jawan and
another a woman, who had returned from Holland.
The officials said so far, 21 have tested positive for
the virus in Jammu province and 13 in Kashmir valley.
The patients have responded well to Tamiflu and were
improving after treatment, they said.
Dr R S Charak, the Nodal officer for dealing with the
pandemic, said the government has enough stocks of medicines
to treat the influenza.
He said, "We have screened more than 67,000 people
since May this year at Jammu and Srinagar airports,
Lakhanpur-the entry point to the state and Surveillance and
Isolation centre at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu city".
