Cross-Loc trade and weekly bus service suspended

Cross-LoC trade and the weekly bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad is suspeded as heavy snowfall blocked the road.

Srinagar: Authorities on Monday suspended the
cross-LoC trade and the weekly bus service between Srinagar
and Muzaffarabad as heavy snowfall blocked the road connecting
the two cities, officials said.

The weekly bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad,
capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, named as `Karvan-e-Aman`
(peace carvan) was scheduled to play today but avalanche
warning along the 170km road forced authorities to suspend it,
they said.

It was also decided that trade between the two parts of
Kashmir will not take place this week due to the closure of
the road, they said.

Both sides of Kashmir experienced moderate to heavy
snowfall over the past two days, resulting in closure of many
roads, including the arterial Srinagar-Jammu national highway,
the only road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country.

The bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad was
started in April 2005 to facilitate meeting of divided
families.
