Srinagar: Curfew on Tuesday remained in force
in Trehgam, Anantnag and Mattan towns as a precautionary
measure following the death of an injured person in a hospital
here even as restrictions were eased in other areas in the
Kashmir Valley.
The lifting of curfew coincided with a break in
strikes called by separatists following which banks, shops,
educational institutions, and other establishments reopened in
the Valley.
Public transport was back on the roads in most places
barring Trehgam, Anantnag and Mattan.
Mohammad Abbas Dobi, who was injured during a clash
between a stone pelting mob and security forces in Mattan
town of Anantnag district, 70 kms from here, on August 13,
succumbed to his wounds in the Soura Medical Institute this
morning, police said.
The Valley has been rocked by violence following the
death of a teenager on June 11 after allegedly being hit by a
teargas shell at Gani Stadium near Rajouri Kadal. After that
street protests broke out in the Valley claiming 59 lives.
