Brinda appeals to Jharkhand Governor to protect tribal land

CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat on Wednesday appealed to Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu to protect tribal land as enshrined in the 5th Schedule.

Ranchi: CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat on Wednesday appealed to Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu to protect tribal land as enshrined in the 5th Schedule.

"We expect that the Governor will protect tribal land as the new policies on land are going against the 5th Schedule of the Constitution," the party's politburo member Brinda Karat told reporters here.

CPI(M)'s Jharkhand unit Secretary B K Bakshi said a party delegation would seek an appointment with the Governor to submit a memorandum seeking protection of tribal land and raise some other important issues of the state.
