RTO officer arrested in MP, cash found in car

The acting regional transport officer (RTO) of Balaghat and Mandla districts Ram Das Dakshya was on Saturday arrested and more than Rs 15.55 lakh in cash and seven mobile phones were seized from his private car.

Balaghat :The acting regional transport officer (RTO) of Balaghat and Mandla districts Ram Das Dakshya was on Saturday arrested and more than Rs 15.55 lakh in cash and seven mobile phones were seized from his private car.

Dakshya was wanted in a case of forgery here, and was trying to flee to Seoni district when he was apprehended at Gurra check post. The search of his car, which had a blue beacon on the top, police found over Rs 15.55 lakh in cash and seven mobile phones, said inspector general Dinesh Chandra Sagar.

Dakshya was wanted in a case related to forged registration of a vehicle. Five people had been earlier arrested in this case since April 15, said the IG.

Police were questioning Dakshya regarding the money and if he could not explain its source, he would be booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Sagar said.
