Mumbai: A non cognisable case has been
registered against cricketer-turned-politician Vinod Kambli`s
wife and his maid for allegedly slapping a street vendor at
suburban Bandra, police said here today.

The victim -- Evette Fernandes -- alleged that on October
12 evening, Kambli`s maid Rinky Maurya slapped her and fled in
an auto rickshaw in which Kambli`s wife Andrea was also
sitting.

"Based on the complaint, a non cognizable case has been
registered against Andrea and Maurya," said S K Gavde, police
officer in Bandra police station.

Complainant Fernandes, who resides in St Peter Chawl,
told news agencies that, "Kambli`s wife Andrea and I had an argument
over car parking in our locality last year. She had driven her
car in our locality and parked it on the road, obstructing
traffic in our area.

"Our area people told her to park her car somewhere else.
Andrea kept that in mind and since then whenever she goes from
here, she abuses me. This could be the reason why Maurya
slapped me," Fernandes said.

Kambli has contested Assembly elections from Vikhroli
segment on a Lok Bharati Party ticket.
