Congress and AIADMK on Tuesday called for a ceasefire in the war of words between the leaders of the two parties.

TNCC President E V K S Elangovan and AIADMK treasurer C Srinivasan, MP, told reporters they would forget the past and not indulge in a statement war.
Tamil Maanila Congress leader G K Moopanar and Dravidar Kazhagam leader K Veeramani were also present at the press conference.

“We respect Congress,” Srinivasan said that while Elangovan declared I am for the party's alliance with the AIADMK.

Leaders of both parties indulged in a statement war, following a remark by Elangovan describing as 'immature' AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha's demand for the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna on the Rajkumar abduction issue.
