New Delhi/Jaipur: Though expelled leader
Jaswant Singh on Tuesday said his son and former MP Manvendra was
also no longer with BJP, the party maintained the latter had
confirmed to it that he was very much a part of the
organisation.

When Jaswant Singh was asked in Jaipur if his son and
former Barmer MP Manvendra Singh was still with BJP, he said,
"No, he is not."

When pressed further, he said "ask Manvendra himself".

Singh said no one of his family is with BJP now.
However, BJP maintained that Manvendra had personally
confirmed that he was with the party.

"We are not aware of this (Jaswant`s statement). But
our office-incharge Shyam Jhaju has talked to Manvendra Singh
who has said he is very much in the party. And there is no
such issue that you are referring to," BJP spokesperson Rajiv
Pratap Rudy told reporters in reply to a question.

Several attempts to contact Manvendra proved futile as
he did not pick up his phone.

Jaswant Singh was summarily expelled from BJP on
August 19 for his controversial book on Pakistan founder M A
Jinnah.

To a question if BJP has expelled Manvendra, Jaswant
Singh said "not so far. Even I have not received any
expulsion letter from BJP".
