CPI(M) welcomes Singh's no to privatisation of ONGC, Gail

New Delhi, May 20: CPI(M) today welcomed Prime Minister designate Manmohan Singh's statement that there would be no privatisation of ONGC, Gail and banks and said there was no pressure from Left parties for such a decision.

New Delhi, May 20: CPI(M) today welcomed Prime Minister designate Manmohan Singh's statement that there would be no privatisation of ONGC, Gail and banks and said there was no pressure from Left parties for such a decision.
"We welcome the statement of Singh... There was no pressure from Left. We also want public good and a strong nation," party spokesperson and politburo member Sitaram Yechury told reporters here.

Yechury was responding to a question whether the statement had been made in response to Left parties' demand.
