Mongolia is keen to deepen its traditional bilateral ties with India and welcomes Indian investment in areas like agriculture, information technology, infrastructure construction in the land-locked country, Prime Minister N Enkhbayar has said.

"We are very much interested in deepening our relationship with India, with whom we have strong cultural and religious links since ancient times," Enkhbayar told PTI in Mongolia.

"While paying close attention to our immediate neighbours China and Russia, we are striving to develop friendly and fruitful relationship with our 'third neighbours' which includes countries like Japan, United States, South Korea and India," He said.

Enkhbayar said Mongolia has launched bold structural reforms in the former socialist nation and hopes to receive more favourable credit from India.

He said Mongolia welcomes Indian companies to invest in sectors like telecommunication, information technology, infrastructure and agriculture for mutual benefit.

He said Mongolia would like to learn from India's experience in the information technology sector since Indian software professionals have dominated the Silicon Valley in the United States.

Expressing satisfaction over the deepening of bilateral ties and high-level exchanges in the recent past, Enkhbayar noted that Mongolia was closely linked with India culturally and through the spread of Buddhism.

"I am happy that our bilateral ties have deepened, not confined to religious spheres alone," He said.
