Gandhinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that when the nation had entered 21st century people had developed a trust that India can do something, but sadly, at the end of the first decade of the century, the country is still grappling with many questions. The Gujarat Chief Minister said there is an urgent need to create an atmosphere of trust across the nation as there is despair all over the country. “People want to come out of the gloom and they are looking for a ray of hope,” Modi said, adding that trust deficit has increased so much India story doesn`t inspire anymore. Addressing a FICCI meet in Gandhinagar, Modi asserted that bringing back the lost trust is of utmost priority as it brings a positive difference. “It is the need of the hour that we find answers to all the tough questions facing the people. Let us set the agenda,” the Gujarat Chief Minister said. Modi said leadership matters a lot and there should be determination and will to take decision. He also said that he is very optimist and hates pessimism. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Modi said, “The PM always talks about inclusive growth; if we do not focus on capacity building among poor through education how can we make them skilled?” Criticising the UPA government, Modi said it is a fashion these days to run away from responsibilities. “If you are at power you will not only praised but should be open to criticism,” he said. “People say that Modi didn`t run away from Patna rally when the serial blasts happened. I say if Modi was to run away I wouldn`t have been born,” he said. “The BJP leader maintained that agriculture and service sector are the pillars of Indian economy and focus should be to increase productivity in the nation. Beside this we also look at value addition,” he said. Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, Modi said we need to think what the Father of the Nation meant when he said how the last person in the line would gain. “On Gandhiji`s thoughts we need to think on purchasing power of poor people,” the Gujarat CM said. He emphasised on skill development saying that it is the key to the development of our nation in the coming years.
