Langpih under adverse possession of Assam: Sangma

Claiming that the disputed Langpih border village was in "adverse possession" of Assam, the Meghalaya government on Wednesday said it has sent police there to instill confidence among the residents.

the Meghalaya government on Wednesday said it has sent police there
to instill confidence among the residents.
"Langpih is an area of difference between Assam and
Meghalaya and it is now in adverse possession of Assam. The
Meghalaya government needs to take the responsibility of
instilling confidence among the residents of the area and for
that adequate police force have been sent there," Chief
Minister Mukul Sangma told reporters here.

The government, he said, would continue posting of
police force till a permanent settlement of the border dispute
was reached.
Earlier, he assured a delegation of 15 organisations
that the government would pursue with the government of Assam
and the Centre for expeditious settlement of the long pending
border dispute.
