Bhopal: Defence matters expert S.R. Sinho on Monday said the suspected terror attack on the Dina Nagar police station in Gurdaspur may have taken place with the aim of attacking Amarnath yatris.

"These people have changed their tactics now with regard to infiltration along the border. They have entered probably from Gurdaspur area because of the rains and other problems in Samba area..They thought that this will be a surprise," Sinho told ANI.

"I think they have entered with the aim of firing at the Amarnath yatris... Pakistan will never succeed, no matter what method they try," he added.

Rajnath had earlier spoken to Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, Home Secretary L.C. Goyal and NSA Ajit K. Doval regarding the suspected terror attack.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the attack has risen to eight following the death of two police home guards during the operations.

The gun battle between security forces and alleged terrorists ensued after the latter opened fire on the police station and a bus.

Five bombs have also been recovered from the Dina Nagar- Pathankot rail.
