Married woman raped in Phagwara

Phagwara: A 27-year-old married woman was allegedly raped inside her residence here by an acquaintance, who has been arrested.
Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Dharamkot mohalla, was held for raping the woman, whose husband is settled abroad, Sadar SHO Inspector Sarwan Singh Ball said on Thursday.
According to the complaint, the victim had recently purchased a new flat and had shifted into it only a week back.

She was alone in the house when Kumar, an acquaintance, entered the house yesterday and raped her, the SHO said.

The victim alleged Kumar of physically assaulting her when she tried to resist him, the police official said.

Kumar was presented before a local court which sent him into a one-day police remand, Ball said.
