Headmaster, two teachers suspended for sexual harassment in Tamil Nadu

The headmaster and two teachers of a government higher secondary school in the district have been suspended for allegedly sexually harassing some women teachers in the institution.

Virudhunagar: The headmaster and two teachers of a government higher secondary school in the district have been suspended for allegedly sexually harassing some women teachers in the institution.

They were suspended after a departmental inquiry was conducted by the District Education Officer (DEO) on complaints by the teachers of sexual harassment by the trio, Chief Educational Officer Jayakumar said today.

The teachers informed local people about the harassment they had to undergo over a period of time, following which they staged a demonstration here, demanding action against the three on November 26, last year.

The people also gave a complaint to Education Department officials demanding action, following which an inquiry was conducted.

The Director of School Education suspended headmaster Kumarasamy, teachers Udhayasuriyan and Manivannan of the school at Chinnakamanpatti after the report by the DEO, Jayakumar said.
