Chennai: It seems the Bharatiya Janata Party wants to capitalise on the fame enjoyed by South sensation Rajnikanth across the country.
According to reports, the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP has urged the global icon Rajnikanth to vote in favour of the party in the forthcoming General Elections.
Senior party leader from the state L Ganesan said on Tuesday that the BJP has not formally invited Rajnikanth.
He, however, added that the party has sought the movie icon`s wishes, hoping he supports BJP and Narendra Modi.
Earlier, BJP state president Pon Radhakrishnan had urged Rajnikanth to take a good decision and voice in favour of the party. "Rajnikanth is the most responsible and respected person in the Tamil Nadu. He has concerns for the nation in general and the State in particular. He must take a political decision to support BJP,” he had added.
