Meerut: Warning of strict action against anyone taking the law into their hands, SSP Deepak Kumar on Tuesday said "bullet will be replied with bullet".
"Those who fire shots will be fired at by police," Kumar said, referring to the violence in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas which has claimed over 40 lives.
Addressing a meeting convened by political parties, the SSP warned that those who dared to break the law would be dealt with in such a stern manner, "that their future generations would not think of breaking the law".
District Magistrate Navdeep Rinawa appealed people not to believe in rumours or get them verified from police.
He assured them that culprits would be dealt with according to the law.
